Careers Information and Guidance

Careers Lead: Catherine Roberts

Our Careers Programme

Soundwell Academy delivers PSHE including careers and citizenship to all secondary pupils via the Cre8tive Resources curriculum. In addition to the core PSHE curriculum, we deliver a 5-year finance and careers programme to support pupils in understanding their personal finances, making well-informed decisions and managing financial risk. Please view our learning journey below for a visual overview of the combined curricula. These resources are mapped to both the Career Development Institute's Framework of six skills learners need to have positive careers and to the Gatsby Benchmarks, which support schools to provide excellent careers guidance. We are supported by an enterprise coordinator to evaluate and improve our careers programme three times a year.

Our careers teacher is working towards a level 6 qualification in careers leadership. Our careers guidance is further supported by Jo Newman from NewMango; an Independent Careers and Progression Adviser who work with our older learners to deliver small group and one-to-one guidance and organise events such as careers fairs and visits to FE providers and employers to ensure that all students receive independent one-to-one careers interviews and follow-up meetings to advise and track progress.
