Sensory Interventions (Occupational Therapy-crafted Sensory Circuits)

At Soundwell, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Needs are assessed by our Occupational Therapist.  The advice staff receive is bespoke for each child and their sensory needs are then supported by staff around the school, in the classroom and within specialised sensory rooms.

We use Sensory Circuits to support children through different states of sensory arousal through 'Alerting', 'Organising', and 'Calming' activities. These activities engage their physical and sensory needs, helping them to regulate their emotions and organise their senses.

Integrating Sensory Circuits into school has been very positive as children are enjoying the sessions and recognising that it is improving their emotional regulation and behaviour.

Children are encouraged to understand and identify their sensory and emotional needs and learn strategies to support them, which they can carry into adulthood.
